Manuela Ramos
Manuela Ramos, a feminist organization founded in 1978, is dedicated to advancing gender equality in Peru. Over the past four decades, they have empowered women in areas such as political participation, citizenship rights, sexual and reproductive rights, economic rights, and the fight against gender-based violence. The organization has led 12 successful campaigns to include women in political decision-making and has strengthened the national agenda on sexual and reproductive rights, despite ongoing challenges like the illegality of abortion.
Manuela Ramos works to ensure that women can live free from violence and discrimination, actively participating in movements like Ni Una Menos (Not One More) and advocating for stronger public policies to protect women and girls. In response to Peru’s high rates of rape and femicide, they conduct gender awareness training and support victims' families. The organization also promotes economic empowerment, providing micro-credit loans to over 20,000 women annually and training nearly 3,000 women in business and leadership skills. Through these efforts, Manuela Ramos continues to champion the rights and well-being of women in Peru. Support Manuela Ramos in their ongoing efforts to protect and empower Peruvian women. Help with their vital work today.
