Stigamot
Stigamot is an Icelandic organization that promotes the Equality Model and supports survivors of sexual violence and commercial sexual exploitation. With your support, Stigamot was able to remain dedicated to supporting survivors of trafficking with personalized assistance, including individual interview sessions and self-help groups tailored for female survivors. Their holistic approach also includes financial support to help survivors rebuild their lives. Engaging in the public debate on prostitution, Stigamot promoted its findings through a social media campaign and advocated for improved policies in Iceland. Collaborating with the FamilyJustice Center in Reykjavík, they joined an action group to seek justice for victims of trafficking. Stigamot expanded its outreach efforts by introducing an anonymous online chat service for vulnerable youth aged 13 to 20, offering support and information on trafficking.
Additionally, they continued their data analysis, translated the results into English, and distributed them to relevant stakeholders. For Stigamot, advocating for survivors, especially trafficked women from Nigeria, means providing counseling, housing, and necessities, along with legal support. The organization provides training sessions for frontline workers who interact with survivors regularly, including police and trade unions, focused on signs for identifying trafficking cases. Stigamot’s comprehensive initiatives underscore their commitment to survivor support, public awareness, advocacy, and collaboration on a national level
Your donation will help Stigamot continue their comprehensive support for survivors and advocacy for systemic change.
